I have SCO OpenServer 5.0.5 +patches and I am encountering:

- "PANIC: HTFS: Free block #### epi freed on HTFS dev hd(#/#)"
Trying to dump ### pages to dumpdev hd(#/#), ### pages per '.'
##### pages dumped

Then the system will show the shutdown message "Safe to Power Off ..." right after.
This happens intermitently during normal system operation.
Is there somebody who has give me a hint on how to fix this problem?

I also found a SCO TA # 105127 SLS OSS434A HTFS Supplement, but this does not applies to 5.0.5.

Hoping for anybody help.... :)

First of all, you should list the actual numbers the error message gave instead of just # signs. It sounds like a hard drive has gone bad, but it is the # info that would indicate which one.

To fix the problem you need to replace the bad hard drive and then re-install or restore your system.

I took a look at this article and I am wondering what a full fsck would yield from your system? Did you also check the number of inodes and have you been monitoring the use of I/O? Even though these problems should be fixed on your version, it can't hurt to have a starting point to work from. Not sure what else to tell you at the moment without more information.
