Hi, I wonder if there is anything like auto reply in Linux MTAs we have in Linux (Sendmail, Postfix etc.). If there is something like that, then why should one use Exchange or Groupwise? I mean what else is there that Linux MTAs cant deliver and MS or Novell do?

Regards

Depending on your distribution, you might already have the 'vacation' program installed. Try 'man vacation'

Failing that, here's a nice, simple tutorial on what you want:

The limitation of 'vacation' is, of course, everything needs to be done in a shell on the server--which means that most likely none of your users will understand how to do so, and simply ask you to do it for them.

Of course, that's what scripts are for--wouldn't take much to build a simple webpage to front-end those scripts so your users can do it themselves.

Thats great, thanks alot buddy!
Can I ask you for guidance regarding that scripts business later on, sicne I am very new to Linux?

Regards

BTW I am using Debian. Hope it works for Debian too
