I’m trying to get our Sharepoint site accessible from the Web and am stuck. We have a hosted server and if I RTS to the server and start IE, the site comes up just fine. However, from a regular IE window (local, not RTS) if I try to get to it by either using the IP address, or the domain name that we've registered, all I ever get is

“The Web site that is referenced here is not in the configuration database.”

Since the site will work when I'm connected directly to the server, I'm assuming that the databases are fine and that my problem is related to security. Any ideas?

I'm running SP Services, not Portal.

I did not do the original install, but as near as I can tell host headers are not being used.
