Help! Someone gave out the extension # (230) of a phone that gives a "Not In Service"/fast busy when called from another phone or a transfer is requested.

I went into the DNS menu and found the device for extension 230 is RAD rather than a 7xxx phone of some sort. There is a norstar phone connected and it can dial other phones and make outside calls ... it just doesn't allow incoming.

I need for this to accept incoming calls because the number was given out to hundreds of people. Any suggestions?

If you are getting a not in service message, the system is not recognizing the extension as having a phone or device connected. Now if you have a rad connected to extension 230, you will have to change the extension of the rad if you want to assign a phone to extension 230. The phone that can make outgoing calls but not incoming sounds like you may not know the extension number. Do a Feature*0, and press the intercom button to see what the extension number is. You may need to program lines and appearance if this phone is not set up.

You were absolutely correct. I "assumed" the names assigned to the DN's were accurate. It runs out that the one named "Conf A" was really the RAD and the phone I thought was "CONF A" is really another extension (252).

I went into install mode, system programming, change DNs. I change the DN for 230 to another extension and then moved 252 to 230. It worked great!

This site is just too good a resource! Hopefully I'll be able to pay it back for future novices as my experience grows. Thanks again.
