We are running into a slow down on when using Microsoft Access 2002 (XP). I would appreciate any insight that you may have into this problem. All suggestions are welcome. I have posted to this forum because a portion of the database resides on a Netware 5.1 server. Here is our situation:

The "data" portion of the database resides in a Access 97 database on a Windows 2000 server running IIS. The "application" portion of the database is in Access 2002 format resides on a Novell Netware 5.1 server. The tables are linked to the "data" database.

The problem occurs when the "application" portion of the database is run on a Windows XP workstation. When opening forms in the application there seems to be a considerable lag (up to 20 seconds). This doesn't happen on all XP workstations.

We cannot convert the "data" portion of the database to Access 2002 format yet because we still have a "97" version of the application that also pulls from that source.

When troubleshooting, we copied the "data" database to the local hard disk. When this happened (even if the application was still on the server) the access time improved significantly.

It appears (to us) to be a workstation (OS) issue but we are open to other suggestions too. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What version of the NetWare Client are you running? The latest is v4.83 SP1. Try disabling File Caching in the client... -----------------------------------------------------
