Dear Ma'ams and Sirs,

Win98II, 450 MHz PIII, 384 MB ram, Eudora 5.2.1 Light

Maybe I overdid it, but I created 37 mailboxes, without creating any folders. I think a list of 34 mailboxes fit on the screen, before they started to run off the edge.

If I recall correctly, when I added one more mailbox, Scroll Arrows were added to the pulldown list of mailboxes, and pointing or clicking on an arrow would scroll the list up or down, for access to the mailboxes that were off the screen. The arrows were good for a couple of weeks.

One day, I lost my arrows. [nosmiley]

The pulldown list partially modified itself. It became two columns wide, with the last mailbox (in alphabetical order) in the second column. I would add another mailbox, and the last two mailboxes would be in the 2nd column. Add another, and the last 3 mailboxes were in the 2nd column.

That would have been OK, except that a bunch of mailboxes in the middle of the list were not being displayed. Column 1 listed the mailboxes from A to N, and column 2 started with Y. Everything from O to X was missing from the list.

Going to Tools > Mailboxes showed they were all there, but I couldn't access their contents the [normal way].

When this problem happens (99.9% of the time), there is another problem at the same time. In the Filters creation window, one of the options is to Transfer an email to a selected Mailbox. If I click on the big "In" button to select from the list of mailboxes, I don't get any list at all - nothing happens. If it had displayed, it would have been the same list of mailboxes, and would have required scrolling arrows. Instead, nothing.

I think I had the Eudora window extended to the maximum size, but not actually Maximized. Yesterday, I thought maybe the scrolling arrows were off the edge of the page, so I maximized the Eudora window, and that got the arrows back, with the mailboxes in a single column again. And the Filters / Transfer function started working again.

But after restarting the computer today, the arrows were gone again. I tried clicking between Restore and Maximize again today, and no joy, no arrows, and a half dozen missing mailboxes.

Finally I got an idea, and made some folders to break up the long list of mailboxes. Now, there are no long lists of mailboxes. All the lists fit easily within the screen - no arrows necessary - for now.

And the Filters / Transfer function works again.

It was a sufficient work-around.

Thanks for tuning in.
