"LOCKED" file

We have a "LOCKED" file on our SGI. We are using a modeling program called "Vulcan." When we try to list files then choose a current working directory, one of the files has a ": (LOCKED)" in gray after the name.

If this is an IRIX thing, does anyone know how to unlock the file?
