This is from tonyjob in the General Unix Discussion area. I'm just a software guy really and this smells like h/w to me. Any ideas anyone?

i installed redhat linux 6.2 on a partitioned drive with windows me on the other partition, the setup when ok until it came to restart the computer and startup for the first time. after i chose to start linux, it came up with stuff about my processor, type etc, and then i got a "out of sync error". that was as far as i got. i have tried reintalling but i get the same error. can anyone help?

Mike,

Tony probably needs to run FDISK if he first used Disk Druid. I say this because I know FDISK runs a partition sync before writing the partitions. I'm not sure if Disk Druid actually syncs them. But he should at least run FDISK and choose to (v)erify his partitions then (w)rite and sync them. d3funct

The software required `Windows 95 or better', so I installed Linux.
