I need to rebuild a .EXE for an old FoxPro 2.0 program. The system is a Workstation running NT4 on a network. FoxPro 2.0 still runs, the project starts rebuilding, then I get "Link command failed" (in yellow on red), whilst in the main FoxPro window I get "Bad command or file name".

I have seen an article about this, approximately 100 years ago, but I can find nothing now. I suspect it has something to do with starting the old WATCOM linker in a DOS window under NT.

Any help greatly appreciated......

I don't believe you are going to be able to build a "standalone" .EXE under NT/2000 - the linker's memory model is incompatible. You'll have either use Win 95/98/SE/ME(/3.x <g>), or be satisfied with a Compact .EXE.

Thank you for the quick response, for which I am most grateful.

Hm, perhaps I could add that all this worked up to 6 months ago (i.e. after the site concerned had moved to NT4). I am sure (even at my advanced age) that there was a simple fix the last time this happened, but it is an industrial archeology problem to find out what that fix was.... Your reply also set me thinking along different lines, and maybe we will have to fall back on the compact .EXE approach - at least its nice to know there is something that can be done...

Thanks very much, Terry Lang.
