Hi,

I seem to have gotten a virus that makes my windows programs (like Eudora and Internet Explorer) "jump" around a little now and then. It kind of looks like if I had pressed the resize and maximize buttons fast after each other on and on. My F-Prot program won't dedect anything. Does anyone here know what virus this is, and how to get rid of it? The "jumping" seems to occur most just when I connect to the Internet, having Eudora open. Also, I first got the problem in Windows 98 SE and then upgraded to WIndows ME, and the virus is still there. If anyone can help with this it would be very much appreciated! This whole thing is very frustrating, and I'm also afraid it might be something destructive.

This could be the joke program 'earthquake' someone has placed on your computer as a prank, or has got in as a virus payload. It causes any open windows to vibrate at random intervals, but is quite harmless. Have a look in your startup folder (right click start button, open, programs, startup) to rule out this possibility, or do a search for 'equake.exe'. If found, simply delete it. (or pass it to someone else!) :p My suggestions are what I would try myself. If incorrect, I welcome corrections to my rather limited knowledge. Andy.
