Hi,

I installed my hard drive in another computer (as a slave) and copied over some files. I then stuck it back in mine and got "Error in operating system" when I booted up. After searching the net for hours, I say that many people thought fdisk /mbr was the solution. Unfortunately this didn't help either so I decided to just re format my os partitioin and reinstall the os. After the first reboot, I got "Invalid partition table". I put the hard drive back in the other computer and all the partitions are still in tact. I haven't lost any data (cept for what I reformated).

Anyone know how to fix the problem so that my computer can boot without "Invalid Partition Table"?

Here's some computer specs

It was Windows XP (Till I wiped it and now it is a half installed windows xp)

wd1200 cavlier hard drive (Screwed up drive)
maxtor 15gig hard drive (slave)
althon 750
512 mb ram
asus motherboad (via chip)

joelwenzel-

How about this: Pull everything you can/need off the damaged drive and go to WDigital and get their diag and zero-fill utilities to fix the drive and start over.
