"Internet Optimizer" - Virus? - Trogan? 1

Instead of getting the usual Internet Explorer error pages, I now get diverted to a different, advert-loaded, slow-loading URL at

http://www.internet-optimizer.com/Help/NavigationError/

. I don't know why, but I think there is something on my system making this happen.

This greatly slows down my Internet Explorer and sometimes freezes it. Also, it appears when I can see the page perfectly well (I know becasue I also use the Opera browser).

On going to Internet-Optimizer.com I see that it is owned by "Avenue Media N.V.", who have a contact address, but I daren't e-mail them in case they abuse my email address the same way that they have abused my computer.

Can anybody give me a suggestion?
