Hi,

I have a number of users that are experiencing sever performance issues when using IE 5 through ICA/Citrix, in particular when visiting "high graphic content" type sites (MSNBC/ IE is going very very slow, over 2 minutes to open MSNBC! when a workstation (Same LAN/infrastructure) is accessing the same site in under 5 seconds....

NOTE: Also have noticed that MS word 2000 is experiencing similar types of problems when selecting text, (slow screen updates) but not as bad.

Has any one seen this before?

Terminal Services/MetaFrame are not optimised for mutimedia content - or the large number of file transfers that that entails. It's better in MF XP FR2, but really bad in MF 1.x.

Switch off items such as "Play videos in web page", "Play sounds in web page" and such like in IE.

You may also find that increasing the size of the ICA bitmap cache, and minimum size of bitmaps cached in PN will help.

Hope this helps CitrixEngineer@yahoo.co.uk

Is this the only way for your clients to get to the web? If not, then I do not suggest them using citrix to get to the web at all. Let them use there own browser and pipe to the internet.
