"importing" jobs into new bash shells?

I wonder if I can start a background process in bash, log out, then relog back in and get a handle on that process as a job again?

Thanks for the reply. You gave me a workaround but I'd really like to know if what I asked about is possible without digressing into something as distant as the &quot;screen&quot; manager.

don't really know, but you can 'google' for it.

At least on thread had 'screen' mentioned as the alternative:
