Hello:
I downloaded and installed the software and drivers for my Deskjet F340 on my new Vista Home Basic laptop. As I see from trying to scan and from reading numerous posts from similar users out on the internet, I see that the printer cannot scan in Vista like it could in XP.
Specifically, I get an error saying that the HP CUE scanning program component has stopped working, or some message to that effect. Before that error message, I get a message saying that an .exe file failed to initialize properly or some BS message like that.
I have tried several fixes discussed on the different nwsgroups but none of them worked. I tried messing around with that "Destination" registry key suggestion but that did not work. Neither does changing permissions on the HP desktop shortcut.
Did this ever get fixed in a patch or anything by HP? Does anyone have a good solution to this, or does this printer just not scan on Vista? (It prints fine....it just won't scan.)
Oh, well.....I guess I'll have to either go buy another printer/scanner or make a trip to Kinko's tonight.
Next to Windows Millenium Edition, Vista is the biggest flop that Microsoft ever produced.
