Hello.

I've managed to install XP Pro into a striped RAID array (2 seagates 80GB) using integrated controllers on an Asus A7N8X Deluxe as part of a motherboard upgrade. But..., I did so with a bootable W98 IDE spinning on drive C, and now I can't boot XP unless I have that W98 disk active. When I boot I get a choice of OS, and I can select XP and everything is wonderful. But if I cripple IDE or put a different drive at C, I cannot boot; I get an "NTLDR not found." I rearranged the BIOS to give scsi first priority (I'm assuming the SI controller sees the array as scsi) and I used PQ's Image Copy to write an MBR to the RAID array and make it bootable, but no luck.

Any ideas are appreciated.

Thanks (hope I'm in the right forum).

Remove the ide drive when installing xp on the raid.
Now the ide disk holds the startup/system files for
the xp installation .

I have the same issue on abit nf7-s .
Just take out the power plug on the ide drives leaving
only the raid set powered up ,and installs xp on the raid .

Hey, thanks! I forgot to mention that I used NTFS which may be another hurdle, but I appreciate this tip. Thanks again!!
