Is there any way to have "hot spots" on Crystal Reports? I have a client who would like to be able to click on a field from the report viewer and access data related to that field. (Customer name/number on a sales report. Click on the name or number and the customer information be displayed. If this cannot be done in Crystal, is there some other report product that allows you to do that?

Crystal does this sort of thing using a drill down based on a grouping of data or by using an on demand subreport, which would be linked by the field of interest.

It's not the best on the market for drilling into data, but it does work.

Sounds like the On Demand Subreport option is the best choice for you. You can use a formula for the subreport label to make things very intuitive for the user.

The only limitation is that the subreport can't contain subreports within it. Even that can be overcome using 3rd-party tools, but in most cases this is a non-issue.

CUT, Visual CUT, and DataLink Viewer:
view, e-mail, export, burst, distribute, and schedule Crystal Reports.

If your reports are published via the Web (Crystal Enterprise or other means) then another method for accomplishing this goal within Crystal Reports is to use hyperlinks. You can format a hyperlink to launch another web-enabled report by selecting the hyperlink type "a web site on the internet". Rather than simply typing in a URL, you would need to format a URL command (the X-2 button) to include the value of the field being linked as a prompt.
