Hi to all.............
I don't know if this is the right forum(could not find anything related). So is there a software that i can take an image of a remote client in my network, while it is live?Actually is a sealed/very heavy machine with o/s(XP,2000),so i cant open it easily. No floppy/cd.:(
Any other/similar suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanx in advance.

Assuming you can attach an external hard drive or machine has access to network drives, if you install Acronis True Image on this machine (assuming you CAN install software), that can create image of the drive(s) while they're live (ie, o/s is running).

Thanks a lot guys.........I'll give it a try(selfimage first).......It's free ;)

Doesn't this post sound a little suspicious to anyone??? Taking an image of a remote machine on the network. I mean, most people would just go to the machine directly and work on it/from it to make a clone to a hard drive.

Not at all, it's something that's done in a virtualised world all the time (P2V), also bear in mind that the user would have to have admin rights on said machine anyway.

Simon

The real world is not about exam scores, it's about ability.

ok............SimonDavies thanx for the sugestion(selfimage).I've tried it, and it does create an image of my machine.........but when i try to restore it it doesnt boot because i 'restore' it on a new HDD.For this software to work you must restore the image to the same hdd/partition that you 'imaged'.Goombawaho..........hehehe.......you could be right. The reason i wanted this is because we had to bring a fork lift to hold the front cover(only....can you imagine!) of the machine so (at the end)we used ghosting on another pc,after removing/installing the hhd of the machine to that other pc.It is a critical machine so we had to have a bkp somehow.I didnt try acronis because we didnt want to 'alter' a lot the file system(instructions from above!!!!!!).

Thanx a lot guys

Ha ha ha, ha ha ha. Forklift. That's a new tool in my IT toolbox arsenal. You gotta do what you gotta do.

"Hey junior - we're gonna need the forklift on this one too.
