Does anyone else have this problem? When upgrading FW on tn464gp/hp, tn793cp and tn2224 some boards are rendered useless. On all three types of board I did a c-lan distributed download and ran the "ch firm down" command scheduling multiple boards at once. In one case I updated ten tn464's. eight passed and two failed. The two that failed became invisible to the system (S8700 R012x.01.0.411.7), ie "no board inserted" on the list config. LED's were on, and when I statused the trunk it even showed several of the members on that ds-1 as "in service/idle". Similar results for the other TN's mentioned. Boards don't respond to busy/release and re-seating is no help. The only fix is replacing the board. Am I doing something wrong or are there others out there with such horror stories? If this is fairly common then I need to re-think my firmware upgrade policy.

when you re-seat the board, does the card come up for a short time. If so, I had a similar problem with a maintenance card and what I did was to get the firmware download ready and the moment the card is inserted, I hit enter on the screen to start the firmware download and it fixed it. Worth a try.

Thanks mrjedi, that worked great! I was able to salvage all of my fried boards. I had to manually add the board through the "ch circuit" command first. Once you seat the card there's only about a five second window to start the download.
