Hey, all. We've got a customer that lists all their Full Names across their SCN in Last Name, First Name format. They also have a dial by name directory. So this is kind of playing with the callers who try to dial by name, as they get the option to "Dial by first name", when in fact they have to dial by last name in order to get to the person they want.

So, that being said, does anyone know where I can find the "Dial First Name, then Pound" recording at in VMPro folder, that way we can get it re-recorded?

Thanks!

Because then the system would actually be looking up their first name..

For example, user "John Smith" is trying to dial his own name from the DBN directory. However, under the "Full Name" tab in the IPO programming, he is listed as "Smith John" -- so the IPO sees Smith as his first name, John as his last name.

They did this due to having 10+ locations, and for the sake of using the directory for office-to-office dialing. So it was the customer's decision, and we're just trying to work around it with the DBN directory.

Thanks!

"Enter first name".

that's the closest I can see in IP Office mode, what mode are you in? Some prompts are several recordings strung together.

Build your dial by name module with a menu that says "Press 1 to dial by first name" "Press 2 to dial by last name" Build both correctly then point them to the incorrect one from the menu.

o.k. that won't work since even if you record a prompt for the dbn action it will play the prompt then play the canned "enter you last name" prompt. Of course you could record a dbm prompt that says "do this and disregard what you hear next

i have done this before and had to record over the system greeting to make it work. it is 2 wav files that the system play. what i did was change the Vm service to interact with the desktop and restart it. Then call into the dial by name and see what files it plays.

Exactly what Kevin suggested, but you don't need to rerecord them just rename the existing by swapping their names.
Problem when you upgrade it will revert back to the original prompts so keep a copy of them somewhere on the harddrive to restore after any upgrades.

Stars!

Right on, that's exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!

I recall seeing the prompts in the helper app also at some previous version. But not with 4.2.

thanks for the star
there are also recordings for users that press *4 to get more info and you would theoretically also need those switched but not to many people press *4 when they are in a voicemail.
