I have a user whose machine lock up in an application the other day. The machine was rebooted with no apparent errors but this morning the user notice that when she changed the view on a folder from list to details (using Explorer), the contents shows absolutely nothing. Backing up the tree to the root directory, and I think the 1st-level directories you can see the attributes column but nothing else. If you switch to list mode the file names show up.

The same user on a different machine is ok. Admin login to this machine is ok, which leads me to suspect her profile.

Has anyone encountered this before?

I had the same thing happen to my computer. What I discovered was that the columns had "shifted" tothe right and off the screen. There was no scroll bar to indicate this. I just happened to notice a "cut" in the area where the topof the columns would be and started shifting things around. I had to do a lot of rearranging, but finally got things back the way I wanted them.

Funny you should mention that. I happened to move around the mouse while debating what to do next when I noticed the mouse change to the double-line indicating columns could be moved from the left. Lo and behold, all the columns were there but all moved all the way over to the left. Same here, a lot of rearranging but all is well now. Strange. It's not something a user would normally do to themselves.
