When I get to the finish installtion stage of 3.0.1 it comes up with the above error message - I have followed advice from this site and advice given by NAI (I might as well of just walked up to some random guy in the street, and got more sense!!!) and I am getting knowhere!

I have had massive problems with 2.0, 2.5.1 so think it is advisable to upgrade to 3.0.1.

Please help

I HAVE UPGRADED TO A WIN2K SERVER AND NOW I HAVE INSTALLED 3.0.1 OK

I've seen this problem on Win2k servers too. Heres what NAI says:

During the Installation of ePolicy Orchestrator 3.0, NT Authentication is being used and does not have proper rights to access the SQL/MSDE database.

NAI33919 shows details. Changing the service account from a user to local system account allowed me to install it properly, but caused other problems (unable to send agent installs via console) so I changed the registry key the mentioned:
----------------------------
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\MSSQLServer\MSSQLServer\Loginmode and change the value to 2 (by default it is set to 1).
----------------------------

Fixed it for me in two instances.

Try reinstalling MDAC 2.7SP1 on the machine!

Who is General Failure, and why is he reading my disk?
