Hi
I have a user that is getting the following message when she tries to forward an email in Lotus Notes.
"database is currently in use by you or another user"
I have seen that error before...discovered that my backup had hiccupped during the night, and the user's mailfile was the file being backed up at that particular moment.
you must make sure the user did not have another window opened in the workspace. sometimes users tend to forget that they are actually, doing more than one task at the same time.
also make sure that the database is not shared by anybody else in the office, or let others have access to the ID file and password to it.
sometimes, (i dont know why or how) when i faced this same situation, which when i just let it be, the server corrected it for me. i did nothing to solve it.
We have that problem on a regular basis. We resolve it by simply stopping the domino service and starting it again on the Domino Server. It takes a couple of minutes to perform this task but it does work.
We seem to get this problem when there is a glitch on the network. It is generally fixed by deleting the ~notes.lck file in the Notes/data directory. We often find that this file will not delete though as it complains of being in use. Therefore the only way is to get the person to log out of the system and reboot. The ~notes.lck file will eventually release itself.
We have this problem happen also and it's usually something that has happened during backup. I usually shut down Domino and restart it and that takes care of the problem.
