Moving a customer's Legend with Audix voice mail tomorrow. Is there a "correct" way to shut down the Audix prior to the move, other than just pulling the plug on it? And is there a correct way to restart it at the new location?

Any insights appreciated.

TT, I don't know if you'll get this in time, but to shut down the Audix, you can either do it through the System Administration option of the Main menu, or I believe you can do a "shutdown forced" from the command line. When you power it back up, make sure you do it after the phone system is up and running.

Hope this helps

Several years ago I was told by a Lucent tech that there was no problem in just hitting the "off" switch on the Intuity box and indeed they did it that way when moving the unit. But, I always do it through System Admin, to stop voice mail and then stop Unix. As suggested above, make sure Audix and Legend are connected, Unix and voice mail should boot up automatically with power-on.

Just as an additional note, if you go to the FAQ of the Definity forum, there is an excellent response to the proper method of shutting down the Audix.

Thanks for the replies, Franke and BobbR. As it turns out, the customer pushed his move out another week, his new building wasn't ready yet. The pressure is off, but we still were able to terminate and test 172 Cat-5 runs! Anyway, I'm going to print out this thread, and look for that FAQ.

Thanks again.
