My browser based reports are now giving me an error "Connection to page server failed". They were working just fine via the web (using Recrystallize), and now this error has come up.. What does this mean, and can it be fixed relatively soon?
Thanks

have u tried re-starting all the crystal services? this often helps. Also, if this happens a lot there are patches u can apply.(u must apply them all if u apply any)

It may be a bit early to look to patches.

"Connection to Page Server failed" is a very generic error message. It can mean anything from "The stored procedure didn't return any values" to "The servers are down".

Eliminate the possible causes by running the report from a client, excluding the web step. Execute a different report connecting to a different datasource on the web server.

You say they were working fine on the web, and now all of a sudden, they don't. If this is true of all the reports, something must have changed - to the database, the services, the web server... What happened between then and now?

yes all that naith said
but if restarts fix the problem it would be safe to say the datasource etc are ok. (and IMHO restarts take less time than all that stuff - usually lol)

Oh, no, Tracey, I think you misunderstood me.

I certainly agree with you on restarting the services, if it's possible to do so. I meant for cheerfulskeptic to isolate the possible cause of the issue prior to throwing patches at it, if restarting the services doesn't clear the issue up. I'm not sure patches are what he needs to fix page server connection problems.

Thanks for the info. It was a problem with a subreport I had which stopped the page server every time th ereport was run on the web.

Naith.. ok yes i agree about those patches.
Cheerfulskeptic, congrats on the resolution.

have a great day both of you.. may Crystal cause as little hassle as possible

[cheers]
