"Connection refused" when telnet to server.

I can ftp and telnet out of the unix server, But when I telnet to server I get the error " Connection refused. I have just installed solaris 10 on it....

 
check you /etc/inetd.conf

Are you connecting as root? If so, perhaps (from memory), the CONSOLE line in /etc/default/login needs to be commented out to allow root to login remotely. Note that this is considered a security risk by many.
 
What are the advatages and diadvantages for having child processes terminate automatically when the parent terminates?

The same question for not auto terminate with parent?
