Please help! Ever since I set up a home network, when I start IE a message pops up saying that there is no internet connection currently available and presents me a choice of trying again or working offline. Clicking "Try Again" fixes it, but doing it every time is annoying nevertheless. How should I go about fixing this?

This gives me a good linkable opportunity to discuss other issues related to the Winsock service under XP.
. There is a "native" repair, although I would use the "fix" in faq779-4625
Start, Run, CMD
netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt
based on:
I have found this in practice nearly worthless. The Winsock "fix" I recommend in the FAQ is based on a different MS KB article:
The FAQ "fix" contains a virgin set of Winsock and Winsock2 entries.
. If you remove some common spyware/adware/malware you might find, even using the "fix" above, that you still have connectivity issues. There are some Winsock2 level issues that may require an additional repair step:
Be certain to reboot.
. Having handled hundreds of cases of bad DHCP, DNS or other oddities, sometimes you have to get down and dirty. Please understand that the following instructions are for the truely desperate under Windows XP:
