Problem:
New Outlook 2000 (Corp or Workgroup) mail client setup cannot find our Exchange Server.
Logged in as Administrator but "Check Name" fails in Mail applet.
Error msg says the name could not be resolved, Exchange Address Book was unable to logon to the Exchange Server computer.
Windows Explorer on same W2K client can browse to and "find" the Exchange Server OK. All other clients and servers up and running fine, no problems.
Uninstalled and re-installed Office 2000, same situation. Any suggestions?

Check your network settings. Ensure that BOTH WINS and DNS are configured correctly as Exchange client uses both.

If using DHCP check these on the server.

If in doubt, configure a hosts and lmhosts file locally.

Thanks for your suggestions...DHCP is enabled, DNS is the same setup as other W2K clients. This Exchange connection problem started after re-installing W2K after "Blue Screen of Death" which was caused by installing old SW.
All other clients & servers running normal, no changes on servers (NT4).
