hello all,
I have looked up all over the internet to many web pages, all day long with no results.
I have developed an application in access 2000 and I'm still getting this error message Catastrophic failure and then the application exits out and loose the current information when creating a new contact record.
This whole thing is happending since the company upgraded the O.S. from Windows 2000 to Windows XP.

There is information about this topic in other software like SQL, C++, Java, but Microsoft Access 2000

this is driving me crazy. According to the users the error is happending frequently in different computers and in different processes.

I appreciate any tips that could lead to solve this problem .

thank you.

I' ll come back on Moday morning, have a nice weekend yo'll

I have never encountered an error message that said "Catostrophic failure." Also, I have a table of errors in Access 2000 and that isn't mentioned.

I run Access 2000 with Windows XP with no difficulty, on several different computers.

This is just stab in the dark. I am wondering whether or not you have the latest version of the Jet Engine. To check, do a search for msjet, right click it and select Properties. For Windows XP, you should have msjet40.dll and it should be version 4.0.8618.0

THWatson,

Is this table of errors for AC2000 available? Been looking on line for quite a while without any luck!

Mind you . . . you need to run the code for each version of access available to you!

Got that! Ran it and took about 3 minutes to run up a a little form to import along with the table into my projects for quick reference. Thanks again!

microsoftaccess2000,

I have encountered such an error when trying to import a huge txt file of 80k records x 200 fields. System was running A2000 and WinNT.

I had found no reason, no error number, no explanation nor a solution to this. Compacting / importing objects to new database /decompile did not make a difference. I just changed the importing way.
