I am attending an internship "praktikum" in a company in Germany as a part of an MBA program and have been supposed to create a web for a small logistics company despite my lack of knowledge in IT and programming. This web should contain a form to collect information from clients. The data should be addressed to an Excel database. When I hosted the web in my ISP's server, everything worked perfectly and I was happy. Once I installed the Microsoft Windows 2000 server and hosted the web in my computer I can't seem to manage to receive the information in my excel document when a user submits the form. The following message is prompted:

Cannot update the database.
Error Description: (Microsoft) (OBDC Microsoft Access Driver) Cannot update.
Error Number: -2147467259
Error source: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers

According to the Microsoft Knowledge base, the possible problems were:
1. The Web site had not yet been tightened. (Article ID: Q265155)
2. The excel database was in a read-only state (Article ID: Q219974)
3. The URL to the database was incorrect (Article ID: Q265191)

I have checked them and solved by the book when necessary (I believe), but the message continues to appear. So there should be something else that is causing me the error. Server settings, web settings, publishing, MMC settings I don't know and have been stucked with this for serveral weeks. Any idea??

I would appreciate any help a lot. Arturo R.

Make sure IIS is installed and working correctly. You might need to make a virtual directory.

But it looks to me like you don't have MSDE installed. I'm not sure, I'd have to look at your files and test them. I'm open to doing that if you'd like. Let me know. ~Javrix
