"cannot execute repllog.exe"

Hi,
Have problem with my iPaq H3800series PDA. I have WinXP Home edition recently re-installed on my PC, after which i re-installed my MS ActiveSync using the CD provided with my ipaq.
As the manual suggests, connect the device to the pc only when it instructs to(after the instllation is complete), i did the same.
When i connected the PDA, the Activeync tried to search for the device, and in a moment, on the PDA this message appears "canot execute repllog.exe".
This is one problem. To add more, i cant execute anything on my PDA even after removing it from the cradle!! I cant open word, itask, excel, player, cant get into file explorer...and nothing at all!! except for my contacts.
Please help as i dont want to loose any info on the PDA and want to backup its contents before doing anything.
I have tried:
1. Configuring it on a diff pc with XP-Pro,
2. Tried to save it in its ROM as stated in manual, so that even a hard-reset wont erase the info, but the errors stop me from doing that.
PLEASE HELP!!

Where did you buy this PDA from??? Sounds like the problem I had when my ROM got corrupted during a ROM flash... If you bought this from a store like that, RETURN IT for an exchange, if you got it from someone else, they hosed you!
There are, however, methods to recover the ROM, but there are some necessary items.
1. A SERIAL cradle
2. A known good ROM (can get from compaq)
3. A compact flash sleeve
4. the ROM loaded onto the sleeve

If you get this far, contact me directly, I can walk you through restoration...

i encountered the same problem. there seem to be no problem with the unit--as it worked perfectly with MsActiveSync 3.5 before.

however, the problem started as synchronization error with my host pc. then aggravated to "cannot repllog.exe" error in my ipaq (where i cannot open my files, and use any application)

please help. thanks.

Hey Guys, forgot to update you all. The above problem was safely resolved by a 'Soft-Reset' of the iPaq and no data was lost!
