Right now I have a handset in the server closet with our MICS system and I have a bunch of virtual DN's tied to it for "special" mailboxes. One of these mailboxes is supposed to be an anonymous corporate compliance hotline. The problem is, when someone logs into the mailbox to retrieve messages, they can see what extension left the message, so it's not really anonymous. Is there any way to truly create an anonymous hotline/mailbox that won't display who the caller was that left the message? Thanks!

Y could have them call out and back in through the auto attendant. have a ccr option to go straight to that mailbox.

cook1082, there's no way to turn off CLID for that one extension/virtual DN?

jsaad, that sounds like it would work, but it's a bit cumbersome. We have it in the CCR tree for outside callers, but internally we just want staff to be able to dial 300 for the hotline.

Maybe via routing this can be done but this:
" I have a bunch of virtual DN's tied to it for "special" mailboxes."

What exactly do you mean programming wise?

This is something you helped me with a while back curlycord. I needed to create a few mailboxes that weren't going to be tied to an extension. We needed a Corporate Compliance Hotline, a Happiness Hotline, etc. You showed me that I could take one phone, and then tie virtual DN's to it, and then asign mailboxes to those virtual DN's. So we put a phone in our server closet, tied a bunch of virtual DN's to it, and then made mailboxes and tied them to the virtual DN's.

The problem is, when someone logs into one of these mailboxes to retrieve messages, they are able to see the extension/name of the person who left the message. We just got audited and flagged because our "anonymous" hotline isn't really anonymous when you can see the name or extension of the caller. This doesn't happen when the calls come in through the outside world, but internally if you call and leave a message the ext./name appears during the message retrieval.

My ultimate goal here is to create a truly anonymous hotline, so maybe the virtual DN's arent the way to go? Thanks everyone for the help!

Thanks for your help on this curlycord, it's much appreciated! From outside, people dial 300 at the AA. Inside, we just dial 300. We have to press 9 to get an outside line.

How anonymous can it be? Unless you have alot of people, won't they recognize the callers voice anyways?

Shot in the dark...

Here is what might make jsaads method easier however means internal callers dial 8 (or what ever Dest code you choose).
OLI Caller ID might be a concern....test it.

Assuming you are full AA:
Setup Route 002 to call XXX-XXX-XXXX,,,,300 (Your 10 digit main line with some pauses followed by X300).
Setup Route 002 to use Pool A
Setup Dest code 8 to use Route 002

Method from internal set is simply Intercom 8

In this case why not setup path 8 in CCR to call 300, this way its dial 8 internal or external.

Thanks curlycord, but we aren't full AA.

Put in a suggestion box they can drop their concern into.
