We're using Excel XP and I'm trying to enable the "Always show full menus" setting (Tools | Customize | Options tab) for users accessing our citrix farm. I would assume there would be a registry key that would set this but it's eluding me. I've tried using Regmon to record the changes but it's not giving me any answers. I also found an article pointing to a reg key/value that works for Office 2003 and I tried it but it doesn't seem to work for Office XP.

Any help would be appreciated.

I think the registry key lies in the following location:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Common\Toolbars\Settings]

For Collapsed Menus:
"Microsoft Excel"=hex:01,01,00,00,00,00,00,00,01,00,03,00,00,00,02,01,ff,ff,8f,\
05,00,00,41,00,18,00,00,00,10,00,00,02,02,02,01,00,00,00,00,ce,00,00,00,8b,\
01,1c,01,53,02,10,03,02,00,02,fe,00,00,00,00,ce,00,77,03,8b,01,1c,01,53,02,\
10,03,02,00,02,fe,00,00,00,00,ce,00,77,03,8b,01,1c,01,53,02,10,03

For Expanded Menus:

"Microsoft Excel"=hex:01,01,00,00,00,00,00,00,01,00,03,00,00,00,02,01,ff,ff,8f,\
05,00,00,41,00,18,00,00,00,10,00,00,02,02,02,01,00,00,00,00,ce,00,00,00,8b,\
01,1c,01,53,02,10,03,02,00,02,fe,00,00,00,00,ce,00,7c,03,8b,01,1c,01,53,02,\
10,03,02,00,02,fe,00,00,00,00,ce,00,7c,03,8b,01,1c,01,53,02,10,03

See if that works for ya.

Joeh17,

We've looked at that key too. I took a screen cap of it before and after changing it manually from the menus and the key value didn't change at all.

I tried your settings and unfortunately they didn't make a difference.

Thanks for your efforts just the same.

dcmoto,

I tried that too. That's the 2003 fix I mentioned that didn't work on XP.

Thanks for the input though.

One source said to do the following for XP:

Navigate the location below in your registry and make the corresponding change.

This is the Default:
AdaptiveMenus 0x00000000 (0)

Key:[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\[red]10.0[/red]\Common\Toolbars]
Value Name: AdaptiveMenus
Data Type: [red]REG_DWORD[/red]
Data: [red]0[/red] = disabled, 1 = enabled

dcompto,

I tried what you described exactly. From the other article mentioned pertaining to 2003 I knew that XP is "10" vs "11" for 2003 and adapted accordingly. It still doesn't work.

Thanks again.
