Hello,

I am finding that, when using "alt" or "title" attributes (for img, a, or p tags) the behavior for Netscape(7) id to display the text, but only up to 50 characters. It is also displaying literal whitespace and carriage returns as junk characters, a behavior which is quite different than in IE, which interprets these literally.

Does anyone know of a workaround or a solution to this. The intent here was to use the "title" tag as a "tooltip", the text of which could run longer than 50 char.

Thanks,

RR :)

I've not used the TITLE tag, but I use the ALT tag as a sorta' tooltip. Trouble is, browsers only hold it there for a few seconds, so I can't put much in there. However, if I need to make sure that the User gets their floating tool tip and that the tooltip is long and involved, I simply do a mouseover event and pop up a little tiny window, showing them a neatly laid out help.

Of course, on those pages, I prefer a single help button that displays the page, each control, and an explanation of everything. There are times when crap popping up all over my screen is just basically that -- crap. Even if I write it, it's still crap if it interferes. [lol]

Cheers,
