Hi,

I'm logged on as Administrator (with full security rights) and I'm attempting to copy a corrupted Microsoft Excel file to another directory.

I do have adequate permissions for the folder that contains it, but for the file itself, I get an "access denied" error when i try to open it or copy it. It is not read-only or an archive file, and no other user (unless a user is hung somehow) has opened it.

Any workarounds would be most appreciated.

I think the word "corrupted" in your first sentance should be your clue to the problem. Another may be that the file is password protected and something happend to the code, therefore making it unreadable.

Try opening it with notepad. Sometime a file that wont open due to corruption in its native application will open in notepad. granted you will see all the formating, but you can save it as text, rename it to xls, and try opening it again. Doomhamur
