Anyone know what this means before it drives me mad:
"A tape access reached a filemark."
I tried the knowledge base to no avail.
Any help most appreciated.

I was having this problem with BE 8.6. Replacing the tape drive driver with the latest release (try the manufacturer's website) seemed to solve the issue.
