Hi all

How do I make a floppy that boots up to the "A" prompt using the minimum of space so that I can add my collection of most used dos progs onto one floppy

Have tried format with the "/b" & "/s" but the "/s" is not recognised, so how do I tranfer the system files (If that is what I should be doing ?)

Many THZ

Right-click the floppy drive in "My Computer" and select format.

Under the format options select "Format an MS-DOS startup disk"

THZ for your prompt reply
Trouble is this takes up a third of the disk !
Is there anyway of freeing up more space ?

If you have a 95 OSR2, 98 or 98SE installation boot disk, diskcopy it then delete the unnecessary items (if you don't need FAT32 support, then a DOS 4.x or later Setup disk #1 will do just as well).

The only files you need on the disk are:
MSDOS.SYS, IO.SYS and COMMAND.COM
If you have DriveSpace'd FAT32 format drives you need DRVSPACE.BIN as well, but if not, this can be deleted.

You can then copy your utilities on there and write an appropriate CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT file.
