Hi experts,

I'm using Windows 2000 Server Service Pack 4 and SQL Server 2000 SP 3a

When the server is booting it displays "1 processor..."

However, the SQL Agent logs say "2 processors and 1024 MB RAM detected"

I can't easily open the server to look because it is in a rack and in use most of the time.

Has anyone else noticed a discrepancy in the number of processors recognized?... and which one is accurate?

Thanks, John

thanks JayKusch,

Is that (hyperthreaded) a Windows term or a SQL Server term? I didn't find anything in BOL for it.

John

Windows term. Its a new technique the processor manufaturers are employing.

Thanks

yep, this is a Xeon processor, so that's obviously why it shows as 2 processors in SQL Server 2000 Std

thanks for the link.
