Long time lurker, first time poster.
Don't know if anybody has tried this, and because this is being written for interests sake alone, haven't researched it a whole bunch.
I was fooling around with exchange and volume shadow copies so here is what I did...In a virtualised environment of course...
Scenario
- VM'd exchange2K3 SP2 on W2K3 SP2 server
- allow all services to stay running,
- created volume shadow of drive d: transaction logs,
- created volume shadow of drive e: priv1.edb & .stm,
- dismounted mailbox store,
- deleted .edb & .stm files,
- tried remounting store (error message about missing data obviously-click no to abort)
- restored the shadow copy
- store will not remount as it has become out-of-date
- most eseutils and isintegs will not run (beneficially anyway)
- run eseutil /p
- store remounts and all messages are there!!
Quite Interesting !
OK it's not rocket science and the database is only 1.5GB but I am curious whether anybody has done anything similar.
