Quicktime plug-in for MSIE

After install the Quicktime plug-in in MS Internet Explorer, is not possible to download EXE files from the Internet. When I try to download, the file association tries to open the QT plug-in.
If I check the file associations, all seems is ok.
I tried to uninstall and re-install the plug-in, but the problem persists.
