My computer was recently affected by scumware which interfered with all my media players. I've cleaned it out now and most of the players work fine (WMP, RealPlayer) but Quicktime is still broken. The problem is that it will not connect to the internet, it just tells me that there is no connection. I am, of course, connected, my browser and all other software that use the net work fine, it's just QT that won't.
I've done a clean uninstall (several times) but with no results. Whether I use the stand-alone QT player or the browser plugin, it still won't work. (I get the broken QT icon when using the plugin.) I've even tried installing the Alternative QT player, same problem.
Does anybody know how I can restore connectivity to Quick Time?
I'm using Windows 98SE on a Compaq Presario 550, 128MB. My browsers are Firefox and IE. I have an always-connected 1MB cable modem.
Thank you for any help you can give. I could live without QT but it would be great if I could fix it somehow.
