how do i change aloha 5.3 from quickservice setup to tableservice

Mega,
That may alow you to convert a database (with modification) from QS to TS but wouldn't this create drastic ramifications in a working environment?
Since iber.exe is not the same as iberqs.exe won't deleting the "fastfood" flag cause problems, not to mention the fact that the Aloha license is product specific??

We've done it as we also owned a tableservice restaurant as well, and we would just delete the file from one of our QS systems. The license key ignored the change, and everything worked fine.

Now, we did have some changes to the database for the TS concept, that is obvious the two are not exactly the same, but to convert a QS system to TS as was asked, just delete the file.

I didn't realize a QS key would run TS mode (no fastfood file). Darn, have installed many sites running multiple restaurants both QS and TS from 1 fileserver, each with it'sd own unique install of Aloha and database. Iber always made me get a key licensed for both QS and TS. I'm sure that was a innocent mistake though as they originally told me it was impossible to do that.. Does TS operate QS mode with the insertion of the fastfood flag file?
Thanks

It does for us. I have a script I use to switch between configs on one lab system so we can work with either a QS lab or TS lab. It either deletes or creates the fastfood file and then copies the database from one concept to another. It's basically the same function that many Radiant sales reps use on their laptops.

Radiant specifically licenses a key for either table or quick. If you are switching between both, you may have purchased a combo key license. That means a typical user can't just switch as Aloha Manager and the terminals will state "Licensed for Quick Service Only."

On Switching from QS and TS, they share about 90% of the same features. However, if the intent is to build a new concept or database, it is often easier to start with a clean database.

Something doesn't add up here. I have converted concepts for customers, and Aloha issues new key codes, and manipulating the ff flag never came up, at least not for a complete concept change.
As for the sales reps and their demos. They don't use keys. They have a TS folder and a QS folder and custom bacth files that launch the appropriate iber. They will copy newdata and data folders into them depending on what database they want to show. At least that was how we were directed to setup our sales reps.

Are we close to answering your question yet shotmm? :)
