Have a program that sends applications electronically to clients, trying to submit pictures embedded in the application creates a huge pdf file sometimes and the send will fail because of mailbox limit.

I am looking for a way to zip the pictures and send with the application.

Is there a way to integrate winzip or another component with quickreport ?

Thanks

I'd start by looking at the many options within your PDF generator. Depending on which PDF version you are building for, there are built-in image compression properties that can be specified, as well as output optimization (printer/screen/web/...) which also affects the file size.

You mentioned QuickReports. I assume the QReport is going into the PDF. The embedded image type can make a big difference, where png is smaller than jpg, as jpg is smaller than bmp. Some of which also have compression level parameters.

I don't know of any way to implement zip compression of objects into PDF files. You could compress the final PDF file into a zip file and send that.

Have you looked here:

Thanks. I changed the pic from a bmp to jpg and compresseed the jpg image on the quick rpt. This helped and I have a smaller pdf file now.

Glad I could help and thanks for the '*'!
