Quicklaunch Bar and Active Desktop 1

We have several computers in our area. All are running NT 4. Some have the features of Win98 with Quicklaunch bars and Active Desktop.

What needs to be done to have those features on all the NT machines? I suspect it was probably from one of the Service Packs. But we are all running at least SP5 now. So can't go back to get the items.

Anyone have a thought what can be done to add this feature my co-workers' PCs?

I believe you have to install IE 4.01 and enable active desktop. Then you can install IE5 or 5.5 afterward if you wish.

Do you know where I can find a copy of 4.01? Can't seem to find it on the Microsoft site.

If you have IE 5.01 it may also install the quicklaunch bar & Active Desk. I went thru this problem in reverse this week. I didn't want the active desktop on my terminal server but when I loaded IE 5.01 I got the Active Desktop and caused myself some ugly problems.

To install active desktop run ie5 with the following switch this is case sensitive
IE5SETUP.EXE /C:"ie5wzd /e:IE4Shell_NTx86"

Post back if this works. Also check the IE forum for more possible answers.

Well, I did find ID 4.01 at cnet downloads and have successfully updated the PC needing the toolbar.
