OK, I have a sheet with links to text items - I want to change these references to the actual data it references - ie replace the cell references to the actual text strings referenced - how do I do it??

From menu select Edit then Paste Special. Select Values, then press OK.

But I get errors relating to merged cells having to be the same size?

I hope this isn't a large worksheet. MS Excel will not allow you to select a merged cell and an unmerged cell to copy and paste. The only way that I've been able to do this is to select the merged cell by itself then copy and paste special\values.

Cheers Luceze,

That does it if I select the unmerged cells - not a stunningly elegant solution but it works, an easier way would be nice - never mind eh?
