lingo newbie here.
Scenario: I have direct to stage quick time movie on one layer over an imported .swf so I don't have to recreate the stage in the background and keep the actionscript of the flash movie.

The problem is that the direct to stage video plays(streaming settings) but it appears and disappers(rapidly).

Is there a way around this? I start the quick time movie on frame 2 so I don't get the black frame. Also the .swf is extended out as long as the quick time movie.

Probably something simple in the properties I'm missing but I've tried a number of different settings and I didn't find the answer in any of the threads here I queried.

Please help,
Brandon

This is a thread from Tek-Tips Forums. Thought you might be interested...

Just a guess...try changing the tempo of your director movie. I encounter the same problem when inserting a .swf intro movie, to my director stage. It's a bit of experimenting the right tempo.

I am having problems displaying my quicktime movie(the black box appears) even after starting the movie on the second frame...maybe you can help me with this. The movie seems fine once its clicked on.

Here's the movie at this link if you want to have a look.

QT movie on top of SWF will most likely cause playback problems - Director can't handle them together. Try playing QT movie without SWF background. If it works, then you need to give up the SWF background.

....so how cause the black box to appear? I do not have any .swf background in my .dir movie.

If the flashing at the beginning of the QT movie is your problem, try placing your QT movie out of the visible Stage (like
Code:
sprite(qtMovSpriteNum).loc = point(-3000, 0)
), then start the QT mov and bring it to the desired position on Stage.

I think I need to go back a few steps here...

I am doing a Virtual Tour which contains hotspots within a quicktime movie. I have managed to import the quicktime movie into director and using the .hotSpotEnterCallback & .hotSpotExitCallback, I manage to add rollovers over the hotspots.

Next step was publishing the movie in .swf format. When I preview it from my browser it worked perfectly but when I load it onto the web, the black box with lines appears but disappears once I click on the movie.

This is my dilemma right now. I don't want this black box with lines.

This is the link
Does it do that on your browser? PLEASE HELP ME! GOING NUTS!!!

QuickTime Xtra is missing from your .dcr, I can't view your Shockwave movie...!

My guess is may be your movie is set to start playing before download finishes? If this is the case, change the settings in Modify > Movie > Playback.
