quick searching method

hello,
i have dbgrid that show a data stored ona remote
interbase server fora table that contains more than
100000 records(dbgrid source is a ibquery).
but my program nature needs a very quick method
to search for some fields.
but until now the method i use fails to achieve
this especially when the value searched not found or
exist inthe last records.
any help will be apreciated.

Which method do you employ? Use a query with parameters and let Interbase execute the search.
