quick question

can user of windows 2000 use the RUN command to connect to a unix box via ip and and filesystem I.E. I have a unix box IP ADD is 1.0.0.16 which has a filesystem solve can a user connect using the run command i.e. \\1.0.0.16\solve is the possible if so how do i go about achiving this

The only way I've been able to make UNIX talk to windows is through Samba. I would suggest using that...

I have downloaded it but it is just a .exe file will this extratc on the unix box or is there a special way to install this application

FTP the file to AIX, chmod +x it, then run it. It'll extract into smit-installable packages.
