Could some one shed some light on why when I backup using Backup Exec 10. the files are all equally sized 1GB chunks. I am currently backing up 250GBs of data. As you can imagine having 250 1GB Chunks is annoying.

Would backing up to an external hard drive as apposed to Tape cause this?

Any help would be appreciated.

I use veritas 10 to tape and haven't experienced 1GB chunks you mention... would have to hear from someone else backing up to disk to be sure though.

Right click on the backup to disk folder and goto properties, You can change the file size. Backup Exec keeps track of these files so 1 gig chunks is not a big deal. That is be design for disk defragmentation and performance issue. If you increase this file size just keep in mind if the OS corrupts one of these file then you lose that amount of data.
