Quick question on drives

Hi there,

I know device hda is the primary master IDE but is device hdb a primary slave or seconday master?

Ok, I'm getting confused by the naming conventions here.

Just to make sure you know what I mean (I don't think I do), let me explain it this way:

-Primary channel -- Primary disk is hda -- Secondary disk is hdb
-Secondary channel -- Primary disk is hdc -- Secondary disk is hdd

Oh? So it's the primary slave! I did actually think it was the secondary master. Lucky I asked!

hda = primary master
hdb = primary slave
hdc = secondary master
hdd = secondary slave

Further,

hda1 = the first partition on the primary master
hda2 = the second partition on the primary master

and so on.
